The Uttar Pradesh cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has cleared a floating solar power plant on Rihand Dam with an investment of Rs 750 crore.
It will be the first water surface floating solar power plant of Uttar Pradesh and biggest in the country.
The state cabinet cleared the project that will fetch investment of Rs 750 crore, UP government spokesman Shrikant Sharma told reporters in Lucknow.
Shrikant Sharma said that the water surface floating solar power project will generate 150 MW power and will be completed in 21 months.
"It will be first such project of UP and biggest in the country," Shrikant Sharma said.
While M/s Renew Solar Power Private Limited will produce 100 MW, Shapoorji Pallonji Infrastructure Private limited will generate 50 MW from this project, Shrikant Sharma said.
UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has made power purchase agreement for next 25 years at Rs 3.36 per unit which will benefit people of the state, Shrikant Sharma said.
